Promotional Banners

Annoying Rating:

If you are watching this community you will most likely be wondering why the hel there is an annoying banner at the top of your entries... guess who put it there :)
You are also probably wanting to get rid it, dont worry we'll come to that in a minute. First I'll tell you how it is done:
removed from the post due to people getting far too angry :)

This is accomplished by "absolutely positioning div tags" in your journal entry- essentially forcing something to a certain part of the screen.
The essential parts that you will need to accomplish this are the following:

<div class="annoy" style="position:absolute; top:5px; left:5px">content</div>

bold areas refer to parts that can be altered to your own taste, you can of course add further porperties to the div tag. I used the following code in this entry to produce the banner at the top the screen:

<div class="annoy" style="position:absolute; top:5px; right:5px; border:dotted 5px #FF0000; background:#6666ff; color:#FFFF00; z-index:9"><marquee><a href="http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=annoyingjournal"><img height="17" src="http://img.livejournal.com/community.gif" border="0" width="17" align="middle"></a><b><a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/annoyingjournal/" style="color:#FFFF00; font-weight:bold">annoyingjournal</a></b>, the ultimate online resource for all things annoying. <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/community/join.bml?cuserid=419270" style="color:#FFFF00; font-weight:bold; height:1em; filter:glow(color=#990000, strength=5)">JOIN</a> now!! ... click <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=annoyingjournal&itemid=5248" style="color:#FFFF00; font-weight:bold">here</a> for how to remove this banner</marquee></div>

(you are encoraged to use this in at least one of your entries!)

Please note that if more than one of these pieces of coding is used on your friends page the on nearest the bottom of the page will be applied, it will cover up anything underneath it.

I said I would tell you how to remove them didn't I?

you see that class="annoy" part of the coding? that is there to allow it to be easily disabled via overrides.
If you enter the following into your overrides section the banner will be removed from your friends page:

FRIENDS_HEAD<=
<style type="text/css">
<!--
.annoy {display:none}
-->
</style>
<=FRIENDS_HEAD

Please note that if you allready have a FRIENDS_HEAD override you will have to merge the two, if you dont know how LEARN!
